Gameplay

The gameplay in Demihuman Story: Chosen Void King™ includes selecting choices that raise the main character’s stats, and bonding with female Companions at certain points in the story, resulting in the female character being unlocked in the Companion Menu. There are also Companions who are unlocked via the Achievement system. Companions are either Void Queens, or the female Knights who serve and protect them, with their being no pragmatic distinction between the two classifications outside of the story itself.

Unlocked Companions have their own level system, and they can be taken on dates to accumulate gift items, which can then be used to raise a Companion’s level. Dates take the form of mini-stories that focus on interacting with that particular character. Additional mini-stories are unlocked as the Companion’s level increases.

The game rewards players both for increasing their stats and leveling up their Companions by unlocking various Outfits for the female characters, which can then be purchased with Blood Gems, the primary in-game currency. For each outfit, both a stats condition and a Companion level condition must be met in order to have the option to purchase the outfit.

Players also have the option to gift an Engagement Ring to Companions once they reach level 8, and will become married once the Companion reaches level 10.

Synopsis

Setting and Themes

Demihuman Story: Chosen Void King™ is set in the fall of 2023, starting at the beginning of September. The premise for the story is that the main character has just started his first year of college, and ended up securing a room in a 14-bedroom mansion, instead of staying in one of the on-campus dormitories. Unknown to him, the youthful looking woman who owns the mansion is a Succubus who only welcomes Demons and Demihumans into her home, with Demihumans being either a human/Demon hybrid or human/Fae hybrid.

The main character quickly finds out that he is one such Demihuman, who had a magical seal placed on him at birth to block his innate power from growing. This magical seal locked away his non-human nature and hindered his natural growth to match that of a human. However, with the help of the Void King’s Crest and its limit breaker ability, he rapidly grows stronger and quickly learns to harness his own unique magical abilities.

In the story, there are the three primary master-races of humans, Demons, and Fae, with each master-race having sub-races, such as Devils, Succubi, Oni, Kitsune, and Holstaur for Demons, as well as Elves and Fairies for Fae. Werewolves and vampires fall under the category of 'cursed humans.' Demons and Fae come from the demon world, a medieval realm of sword and sorcery. The demon and human worlds are interconnected by the Void World via transdimensional gates, though there are some who can travel directly between worlds via the rare skill of Warping.

The main character and several of the main heroines are able to use Warping.

The overall plot, characters, and setting are based on a merging of two series written by Kurtis Eckstein under the pen name Kaizer Wolf: Innocent Devil’s Harem and Combat Healer.

Most of the characters are directly from one of the two series, with the setting of the human world largely originating from the Urban Fantasy setting of Innocent Devil’s Harem™, while the demon world originates from the Epic Fantasy setting of Combat Healer™. Both series have mysterious gates that open up to a hellish world where monsters exist, known as the Void World in the game.

Characters

Main Character

Much of the main character’s past is shrouded in mystery. Having lived his entire life believing he is a normal human, he discovers that he is actually a Demihuman with a powerful seal placed on him to block his innate power from growing. However, even after breaking the seal, his true origins remain unknown. It is made clear early on that he exhibits the traits of several ancient powerful sub-races of demons.

Serenity

Serenity is the first character introduced in the story prologue, and is a 23-year-old Demihuman who lives at the mansion. At the start of the story, she is beginning her last year of college as a fifth year Senior, due to studying two undergraduate majors: Finance and Criminology. Like most Demihumans, she has two forms, being able to resemble a human or Demon. However, while stating that she is mostly half Inferno Imp (Fire Devil), her gray complexion suggests that she has ‘something else’ in her ancestry, since most Devils have normal human complexions. In the story, she is a female Knight who bonds with the main character’s first Void Queen, and is unlocked after completing Chapter 8 of Part 2 of the story. The character Serenity originates from the series Innocent Devil’s Harem by Kaizer Wolf, and is one of the primary two heroines in Book 1 and 2. She is featured on the cover of Book 2.

Gwen

Gwen is the second character introduced in the story prologue, and is the first Companion unlocked in the game by default. According to her, the main character formed a special bond with her by ‘claiming her,’ a feat normally only feasible for an Imp Lord. She is the head maid at the mansion, and is a full-blooded Inferno Imp, having horns, furry legs, hoofed feet, and a long furry tail. She is highly skilled with fire magic. The character Gwen originates from the series Innocent Devil’s Harem by Kaizer Wolf, making her first appearance in Book 3. She is featured on the cover of Book 5. In both the series and game, she regularly refers to the main character as ‘master.’

Melantha

Melantha (Mel) is another character introduced in the story prologue, and is the female character who runs the in-game Shop. She is a Red Oni with traces of human ancestry, making her technically a Demihuman, despite being unable to change forms. She is always seen carrying a large scythe with a black metal staff and orange ethereal blade. The character Mel originates from the series Combat Healer by Kaizer Wolf, and is featured on the cover of Book 1.

Miriam

Miriam is the Succubus who owns the mansion, having bat-like wings and a midnight tail, and is the primary character who drives the plot of the game, serving as a teacher and guide for the main character. She has a youthful appearance, but has actually been alive for thousands of years, having lived through numerous Void King reigns. For an unknown reason at the start of the story, Miriam has chosen to participate for the first time ever in the challenge for the Void King’s throne, revealing early on that she is a Void Queen who is currently too powerful for the main character to bond with. The character Miriam originates from the series Innocent Devil’s Harem by Kaizer Wolf, making her first appearance in Book 3. She is featured on the cover of Book 6.

Gabriella

Gabriella is a friend of Serenity, and is the main character’s first Void Queen, officially unlocked after completing Chapter 4 of Part 1. She is a 20-year-old Demihuman who is part Succubus, and makes her first appearance in the game in Chapter 2 of Part 1. The character Gabriella originates from the series Innocent Devil’s Harem by Kaizer Wolf, and is one of the primary two heroines in Book 1 and 2. She is featured on the cover of Book 1.

Amber

Amber is a mysterious six-tailed Kitsune (Fox Demon) who lives at the mansion, but who has little role in the story itself and is unlocked via the game’s achievement system. She does not originally come from a book series and is instead a character created specifically for the game.

Amelia

Amelia is a mysterious Fairy who first appears before the main character in the story prologue. For much of the beginning of the story, little is known about her. She does not originally come from a book series and is instead a character created specifically for the game.

Avery

Avery is an 18-year-old friend from high school who the main character reconnects with at college. She makes her first appearance in the game in Chapter 7 of Part 2. The character Avery originates from the series Innocent Devil’s Harem by Kaizer Wolf, initially referenced in Book 1, but not making her first appearance until Book 2. She is featured on the cover of Book 3.

Michelle

Michelle is a professor at the college where the main character attends. She makes her first appearance in the game in Chapter 7 of Part 2. She is originally from the series Innocent Devil's Harem by Kaizer Wolf, making her first appearance in Book 2. She is featured on the cover of Book 4. In both the game and book series, she has a direct connection with Avery.

Remedy

Remedy is a Goblin girl who lives at the mansion, but who has little role in the story itself and is unlocked via the game’s achievement system. She does not originally come from a book series and is instead a character created specifically for the game.
